How to transition your outfits to spring.
February 25, 2017Hot, cold, hot, cold, hot, hot, cold. Can the weather just decide already? These days I’m not sure whether to break out my winter coat or throw on a sundress. This crazy weather has made getting dressed so much harder than it needs to be so this is why I decided to come up with a formula to help transition my winter wardrobe to spring! I use this precise formula to help me get dressed when the weather decides to play temperature roulette.
I have found that If you pair one winter item + with a contrasting spring item = it creates the perfect transitional look. So when you are getting dressed as long as you balance your outfits with equal parts winter to spring the result will be perfect every time…. that is until the weather decides to fully commit to warmer temps.
A few weeks ago I also used this recipe to create a cute spring look that remixed my favorite off the shoulder sweater from Nordstrom. I paired my grey sweater (winter piece) with a pale pink skinny jean (spring piece ) for a great outfit to transition into spring. It was not only super super cute it was the perfect outfit to fit the weather!
In my most recent photo shoot with the ever talented Yasmin Campos (from Coffee Creative Photography), I paired a winter piece, my blacked distressed jeans (from Uniqclo ) with a blush top (from Fetch Clothing) and nude a pair of pumps. I was able to bring a winter piece into my spring wardrobe which in my opinion is amazing because I can get more use out of my winter pieces before the season is over. This outfit is one of my personally favorites! It is perfect for date nights, happy hour and family functions and is totally kid friendly.
So in a nutshell: 1 spring item + 1 winter item = transitional outfit gold
Here are some additional outfit examples that I put together from Polyvore that are equal parts winter to spring! As you can see, if I have a winter item like a blanket scarf or sweater I pair it with a spring pant or handbag. I hope that you can use this formula to help you get dressed until the weather decides to make up its mind.
Thanks so much for following along! Stay tuned for more tips and adventures! Xoxo Jeannie
